FAQ

Where do I begin?
Generally speaking the first thing you should decide is what you want to achieve with your renovation.  Are you looking to improve space, aesthetics, energy savings? Then look around, using websites, magazines and showrooms.  Try to visualize what you are looking to accomplish.  Finally decide on a monetary amount you are willing to invest.  Then it's time to meet with one of our professionals.

How long does it take to get a quote for a project
It depends on the size of the project.  A small project can be priced in a couple of days.  Larger projects can take a week or 12.

Do I need an architect?
Again, this depends on the type of work we are doing.   Certainly any small remodeling doesn’t necessarily require an architect.  If you are changing the structural layout, removing walls, adding extensions, building new structures, you will need to hire an architect to draw plans, and determine feasibility.

What else should I be prepared for before the project can start, how can I ensure an expedient project?

Make sure to have all of your materials, cabinets, appliances etc scheduled for delivery- One of the greatest obstacles that can slow a project down is a delay in the delivery of items needed for continuity of work.  If we have to stop in the middle to wait for delivery of a critical portion of materials, it may cause a greater delay in finishing your project.  Coordinate deliveries with the project manager to avoid this, and allow for a smooth fast renovation.

Once we establish an estimate, and work begins, can I make changes?
Changes are generally not a problem.  Depending on the status of the construction, additional charges may apply.  Additionally the changes may affect the length of time need to complete the job.

What can I expect during construction?

Depending on the extent of construction, there may be quite a bit of debris on the job site.  You can expect dust from sanding of walls, tile cutting etc.  Even though we will take every precaution to limit dust, it does tend to travel. Covering your belongings will help some. The ideal circumstance is to do the work before you move in.  If this isn’t possible, please remember, job sites can be dangerous.  If you have young children, you must impress upon them the hazards, and the importance of staying away from the construction area.  Additionally, remember that many chemicals and materials used during renovations will have strong odors in the drynig process.
